Hi, {{first_name|friend}}. 👋
Welcome to Issue #176 of Loop WP!
Last week, I had an open discussion about the direction of this newsletter and what it’s like running a newsletter within the WordPress community.
This week, Woo & Klaviyo’s study reveals fragmented shopping habits; Woo launches native POS, and early bird tickets for Checkout Summit close soon.
Let’s go! 👇

Shopping Habits
📧 If you’re like me, then you probably have at least one WooCommerce store connected with Klaviyo.
Woo and Klaviyo just launched a major consumer purchasing study that challenges assumptions about how people shop online today.
The new study of 6,000+ consumers across the US, UK, Canada, and Australia found that 43% of shoppers research products on one platform but purchase on another, revealing just how fragmented modern shopping journeys have become.
Other standout findings:
Only 24% feel confident managing their finances, driving "intentional purchasing".
66% of high earners already use AI for product discovery.
55% of Gen Z discover products on TikTok but validate them on Amazon before making a purchase.
The findings are spread across the report’s five key themes:
Purpose-driven purchase decisions,
Modern discovery behaviours,
Fluid customer journeys,
Connection preferences,
Loyalty expectations.

WooCommerce Native POS
🎉 WooCommerce introduces a native POS, finally!
It’s an area where Woo has struggled against Shopify, and whilst this first iteration is only the beginning and lacks some features, it’s a big step in the right direction.
You’ll need a compatible card reader, and these are currently only available in:
As well as a compatible card reader, you will need:
WooPayments is installed on your website (this could be a big one for established stores).
The Woo Mobile App is set up and activated.
The other thing you will most likely need is Jetpack for WooPayments and the Woo Mobile App.
Whilst Jetpack is not required to make either WooPayments or the Woo Mobile App function, you won’t get access to the full features, and you do need a connection to WordPress[dot]com for WooPayments to function.
Checkout Summit
The first independent IRL conference for WooCommerce Makers is closing its early bird tickets in just two days!
🤩 Early bird tickets will get you 50% off the regular ticket price, so grab them before they are gone.
There is also a call for speakers and sponsors, with the headline sponsor slot already gone, and “supporting sponsor” slots selling early.
Checkout Summit is looking like one of the events not to miss.
👏 Notably, Rodolfo Melogli (founder of Checkout Summit) has included an Inclusion Grant, aimed at empowering individuals from underrepresented backgrounds to attend and contribute to the Summit.
This grant is designed to remove financial barriers and provide opportunities for those who have not previously participated in flagship tech events. By offering support for travel, accommodation, and event registration, we hope to enable passionate contributors to share their unique perspectives and experiences.
✅ Applications for the Inclusion Grant are open now!
Thank You Again
❤️ Last week’s newsletter didn’t land quite as I expected, with only two unsubscribes (one of which was a very kind goodbye and good luck) and a tremendous amount of support and private messages from the wonderful community.
I was a bit overwhelmed with everyone’s kindness.
Thank you all again! 🫶
An Apology & Quick Correction
In last week’s News & Tips, I incorrectly linked to Weston Ruter’s WCUS talk:
Expanded Talk - Dealing With Aggressive Sales Tactics in WordPress. (Weston Ruter)
The correct summary should have been: “Expanded - The Site Speed Frontier with Performance Lab and Beyond.“
The incorrect link summary was accidentally copied over from the previous week’s newsletter and a WP Minute article.
