Issue #130 Loop WP

A CoPilot for WooCommerce

Hi, friend. 👋

Welcome to Issue #130 of Loop WP!

Last time, we discussed WordPress Accessibility Day and the European Disability Act. Since then, a mixed bag of news has happened around accessibility (more on that in the News section at the bottom of this email).

This week, is about Metorik, your “WooCommerce CoPilot”.

📰 And after taking a break from our regular newsletter format last week, the WordPress News section is back with a mammoth edition!

Let’s go! 👇

Metorik - Your WooCommerce CoPilot

Whenever I build a new WooCommerce website or audit an existing WooCommerce website, I check to see if they are using Metorik.

🎉 Metorik has been a lifesaver for my clients after Google retired UA (Universal Analytics) by automatically saving all the historical data in Metorik.

No client needed to manually backup or export their historical UA data; thank you, Metorik!

One of WooCommerce’s Biggest Weaknesses

📊 One of the most significant weaknesses in WooCommerce (not so much Shopify) is analytics/reporting. Shopify's basic reporting features are much better than those of WooCommerce.

💡 WooCommerce is getting better. In the last couple of years, it has introduced an “Analytics” feature and, more recently, the new “Attribution“ feature.

How Metorik Solves These Problems And More!

Metorik started as a WooCommerce-only tool but recently expanded to Shopify (some features differ).

💪 The customer support is excellent - and always has been! Nothing has changed as Metorik has grown.

⚡️ Metorik is not just a reporting tool. It's also a marketing tool!

I use it for clients to send the following emails:

  • Abandoned Cart Series

  • Product Review Emails

  • Product Receipts

  • Broadcasts (beta) for standard marketing emails

✅ What's unique about these email tools is the easy GDPR compliance and on-site opt-out (not just opting out within emails).

One Of My Favourite Features

Automated reporting has been a game-changer, not just for me but for my clients.

⏰ It saves me time, and it has helped transform one of my client's businesses by allowing them to:

  • Easy Inventory management and restocking with weekly product sales reports.

  • Custom roles are assigned to customers to allow for monthly reporting of the client's agent sellers, quickly allowing for the calculation of commission owed to agents.

  • Detailed monthly reports for business development.

  • Segmented reporting for Trade (Wholesale) and Retail Customers

➕ Metorik has a massive list of features, and I have only covered one of my favourites.

Check out the list below and read more on their dedicated features pages. 👇

A grid of service features showing 10 categories: Engage (Targeted Automatic Emails), Carts (Abandoned Carts), Reports (Extensive Reporting), Subscriptions (Subscriptions Reporting), Segmenting (Powerful Filtering System), Exports (Download Your Data), Costs (Profit Reporting), Products (Product Reporting), Digests (Custom Email Reports), and Integrations (3rd Party Integrations). Each category is represented by a simple icon and includes a subtitle describing its function.

Before You Go

Ben Townsend from Layer WP interviewed me back in July, and the foresight I had into the latest #WPDrama is terrifying.

Sadly, other stuff was going on in the WordPress community back then, so it’s not related to the current drama we are seeing now (…but it sure sounds like it)

😁 There is lots of lightheartedness in our chat (some swearing) and chat outside of WordPress.

Classifieds

This image shows two stylized, rounded rectangular shapes side by side on a dark background. The shapes are colored with a vibrant gradient that transitions from a deep orange on the left to a bright red on the right. The shapes have soft, rounded corners and appear to have a slight glow or shadow effect, giving them a three-dimensional appearance against the dark background. The overall design is minimalist and modern, Kinsta abstract logo and app icon.

Kinsta, a reliable hosting partner for your WordPress sites. Everything you need: edge caching, CDN, WAF, 24/7 support, free migrations and much more.

🚨 If you’re interested in sponsoring the Loop WP Newsletter, you can find all the details in this Google Doc. I have “Classified” slots available now and a Main Sponsor slot available in the New Year.

That’s it for this week 👋

⏭️ Next week is the school Halloween Holidays here in the UK. I’ve already had a spooky edition of this newsletter, but you might get a sequel next week, friend. 🎃 😉
